ByteLyfe is a great way to keep your private journal organized online. It includes many of the familiar social media features you’re used to (timelines, hashtags, pinned notes, etc), except you’re not sharing your feed with anyone. It’s a safe way to store your memories without making them public. Getting started is easy. Here’s what you need to do.
1. Sign up for an account
Head to Bytelyfe.app and click the “Sign up” button. This will trigger a pop-up to select your Google account. Choose the appropriate account, and click “Next.”
2. Agree to terms
Read through the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. These terms and conditions will govern your usage of the platform. Click “I agree” when complete.
3. Take intro tour
Next, you’ll get a quick introductory tour of the platform. Click through each step once you understand how it works. This takes you to your home page.
4. Add a bit
This is where you’ll start creating your feed. You can add bits just like a status update in your favorite social media network. Bit types include:
Text Notes
This is where you type (or swipe/say) your text message. There’s no character limit, so feel free to let your creativity shine.
Emojis
This provides a menu of emojis to express yourself without words. Each represents an emotion that makes it easy to say how you feel in the moment.
Pictures
You can upload any images from your device or take a picture. Take pictures of what’s happening in the present moment to always remember.
Videos
You can either attach a movie from your device, record one with the built-in camcorder, or add a link to an external video site.
Music
Add a song or playlist to represent the moment. This helps you understand the songs associated with your memories of the day.
Locations
No matter where you are, you can use your device’s GPS to save it for later. Create a map of your past geolocations.
5. Add labels and/or pin
Once your bit is ready, add some labels to help searching and decide if you want to pin it.
That’s all there is to it. Keep adding pins as you move through life, and you’ll always have an interactive feed to remind you later. What’s your next ByteLyfe bit?
